The Harvard lacrosse team yesterday defeated the Druids, the champion amateur lacrosse team of the United States, by a score of five goals to three.

A very interesting little book has been issued by J. F. McClure of Cambridge. It is a history of American College Journalism, and will well repay a reading.- Yale News.

In the lecture in Freshman Physics yesterday, the room was darkened, and the word HARVARD appeared on the wall in flaming letters of great size. It was greeted by loud and prolonged cheers.

The result of the playing in yesterday's tennis games were as follows: Fourth round, Hopkins beat Wheelwright 6-2, 0-6, 6-4. Snow beat Loud, 6-4, 6-1. Final round, Hopkins beat Snow, 5-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

In the cricket game between the Harvard and Boston teams, played Wednesday, only four of the regular team played. The game was arranged at the last moment, and was played on very poor grounds, where luck had undue sway.

The run of the bicycle club yesterday afternoon proved very successful, and was enjoyed by quite a large number, considering that examinations are at hand. At the business meeting after the return, the following officers were elecied for the ensuing year: President, A. D. Claflin, '86; captain, E. H. Rogers, '87; sub-captain, W. C. Appleton, '87; secretary and treasurer, R. Robbins, '87.

Athletic sports for the coming year will be regulated by the following plan: The committee on the regulation of athletic sports shall consist of five members, namely: the Director of the gymnasium; a physician resident in Boston or Cambridge; a graduate of Harvard College interested in at letic sports; and two under-graduates chosen from among the leaders in athletlc sports. The committee shall be appointed by the President of the university, for the term of one year. The committee shall report to the faculty at the first meeting in January of each year: and on all questions involving general principles it shall consult the faculty before communicating its decision to the students.
