Two prominent features of this week's Advocate are an article on Foot-ball by Captain Kimball of the 'varsity eleven, and a clever take-off in verse on the '88-'89 rush. The whole number is very good. This, the second number of the Advocate for the year, will be ready at 4.30 today.
'86 and '89 played foot-ball for a while yesterday afternoon. There were about twenty freshmen and the following men from '86: Kimball, Roggers, Austin, Adams, Churchill, Burnett, Woodbury, McAllister, Vogel, O. B. Roberts, L. Lincoln, Harris and Dewey. The men were coached by Kimball and Littauer.
The following perplexing problem in Physics and Orthography was found among the "Queries" in the library. "Upon the bottom of an air tight box is placed a goose. Will the box and its contents way more or less than if the goose were in the centre of the box supporting herself on his wings?"
The Society of Christian Brethren held a meeting last evening in its new rooms in the east wing of the Lawrence Scientific School. An address was given by Dr. Andrew P. Peabody. The meeting was very fully attended. The new rooms of the society are not only conveniently, but also very tastefully furnished. The large room, used for the regular meetings of the society, will seat over one hundred men. A smaller room adjoining it, will be used as a reading-room, and will contain, besides religious periodicals, the library of the society.
