Henry Adams, the author of Democracy, is writing a large work in several volumes upon the "History of Political Parties in the United States."

At the University of Pennsylvania three new departments have recently been opened-one of biology, one of physical culture, and one of veterinary surgery.

The class of '75 of the college of the City of New York has presented the college with 375 electrotypes of ancient coins, covering a period from 700 B. C. to 200 A. D.

A new chapel and new observatory are being erected at the University of Virginia. The university has just received a bequest of $470,000 from Mr. Austin of Massachusetts.

Princeton has started a university laundry, thereby throwing out of employment many resident washwomen. The action was rendered necessary by the prevalence of diphtheria in the place.

One of the Yale papers says, with biting sarcasm, that "the Yale News ought to begin to charge storage on some of its items." It is lucky that no outside paper gave utterance to this severe and accurate criticism.

Notwithstanding the pressure of examination time, the opening night of the big minstrel show in the Boston Theatre Monday evening proved a sufficient counter-attraction to draw a fair sized delegation of college men from the pressing attractions of Cambridge at present.
