Saturday last was the first day which the club has devoted to rifle practice. No announcement was made of any matches, but a number of members were attracted to Walnut Hill by the pleasant weather, and some excellent sport was had. This being the first shooting of the year on the part of many, the scores ran somewhat lower than will be the case later. The day, though pleasant, was not particularly favorable for putting up high scores, as the wind was strong, and, at times, inclined to be fish-taily. The men shot first for individual practice; then two teams were chosen by Frye and Foster, which shot an exciting and closely contested team match. But few of the men were provided with sporting rifles, and it was agreed that an allowance of two points on a score should be given to military and hunting rifles.
