FACT AND RUMOR.

At the meeting of the freshman lacrosse team last evening, Mr. S. C. Jones was elected captain and F. C. Hood, manager. Games will soon be arranged with Andover and Exeter and with other teams if possible. All freshmen interested in lacrosse are urged to come out and try for the team as there are yet several vacancies to be filled.

Mr. Wm. M. Davis is to discuss the connection of gorges and waterfalls with glacial drift before the Boston society of Natural History tomorrow evening.

It was rumored that the Pierian were serenading College House yesterday noon, but it was discovered that it was a little German band playing in front of the post-office.

The Crimson contrasts the liberality of Yale's undergraduates with that of Harvard's. Apropos, our freshmen subscribed $1700 to the crew, to Harvard's $464. - [Record.

The Society of Natural History of the Eastern United States has recently been organized. Harvard, Princeton, Union, Columbia, Williams, Amherst, Johns Hopkins, Yale and other colleges were represented by their natural history professors. The membership is limited to teachers and professionals in some branch of natural history.

Junior themes. Division B. Theme V. will be returned with criticisms to section 1 (Abbott to McDuffie) today as follows : Sub-section 1, Abbott to Barnes, at 2 P. M.; sub-section 2, Bates to Bullard, at 2.30; sub-section 3, Burr to Denton, at 3; sub-section 4, Dooling to R. F. Howe, at 3.30; sub-section 5, Hudgens to McDuffee, at 4. Those who have a conflict at any of these hours may come from 4.30 to 5.30.
