There was a very interesting debate at the rooms of the Institute of 1770 last evening. The subject was, "Resolved, that an executive committee ought to be appointed from the college to confer with the faculty on subjects of interest to the students." The affirmative were Messrs. Trask and McArthur; the negative, Messrs. S. E. Winslow and Halbert. The secret ballot on the question was in the affirmative. The ballot on the merits of the debate was in favor of the negative. The debate was then thrown open to the house, and a very sharp discussion showed the manifest interest of all present. The final vote was in favor of the affirmative. It was voted to have another debate in two weeks from Monday, and that the rooms shall be kept open every Monday evening, beginning next week.
