The greatest receipts were at the beginning of the academic year; a second rise occurs in January, owing to the large sales of stationery and the change in the books, etc., the membership then being at its maximum.
I submit these facts to show that the falling off in the sales in the first half of February is owing, not to any real decline of the business of the society, but to the fact that the goods in which the society deals, particularly the books, are naturally bought only at certain times and cause great fluctuations in the amounts of the monthly sales.
