At this I lost all Patience. I began to rush madly about the room, shouting, -

"Can I at least see Dr. Beancorpus?"

The reply came from all quarters, "No; he's too far gone, and, as for that matter, so are you too."

Professor Grunaue was the only man who endeavored to restrain me.

"I do not wish," he remarked, "that you should follow the schoolboy method. I shall not teach you anything, nor do I expect you to learn anything. I, too, am a man and a snob. Do you manage to make out the connection?"

"No, sir, I don't."

No more I did. Do you? And this was the way in which I discovered that the Ferocity knew nothing about any garment except a strait-jacket, which does n't fit many people.
