THE foot-ball games in Canada will probably have to be given up, as Captain Cushing has received word from the Canadians that they are unable to get up a Team; he has written again, however, urging them to make efforts for a game.

THE subjects for the Second Junior Themes, Division A, are: "Mr. Thackeray gravely compromised his character, when he invited the people of the United States to laugh at his caricatures of the Hanoverian Kings of England"; and "Professor Hughes, it is said, does not intend to secure patent rights on the microphone, as he regards his researches and their results as belonging to the domain of discovery rather than invention."

ATTENDANCE at recitations and at exercises in Themes and Forensics will be voluntary for the present Juniors on the following conditions: 1. Juniors who did not attain seventy per cent on the work of Sophomore year will lose their privilege, if they abuse it. 2. 267 censure-marks will lead to suspension, and 200 to special probation. These numbers will be reduced by one third for students already on special probation, and by one fourth for those excused from prayers for the year; a proportional reduction will be made for those excused for a part of the year. 3. Juniors must attain at least fifty per cent on the work of Junior year. 4. The condition of residence at the University still remains in force.
