Josephine Pucci helps Team USA

Josephine Pucci is one of three current Crimson players skating for Team USA in Sochi.

The No. 6 ranked Harvard women’s hockey team boasts a 19-3-3 record and sits atop the ECAC leaderboard, but the players in Cambridge are not the only members of the team making noise.

Lyndsey Fry, Michelle Piccard and Josephine Pucci all made their Olympic debuts overseas in Sochi this week representing Team USA. Also joining them on the ice is Crimson alum Julie Chu, who recorded 284 points during her collegiate career, good for third all time on the Harvard scoring list. Amanda Sobhy, shown here in previous action, captured her third consecutive national title on Sunday.

This week’s Athletes of the Week runners-up prove that you don’t necessarily have to be a senior to lead by example—each of these three Harvard athletes rose to the occasion in playoff competition this past week.

Christine Clark

Christine Clark helped lead the Crimson to a 78-68 win over Princeton on Friday night.

The two Harvard athletes in this week’s edition of the Athlete of the Week runners-up were stellar in Ivy League competition this past week. Both paced their respective squads on the road in victories for the Crimson.

Christine Clark, Women’s Basketball

With Harvard undefeated in the Ivy League coming into this past weekend, Clark made sure that streak continued on Friday. The senior guard picked apart the defense in the Crimson’s 78-68 win over Princeton at the Jadwin Gym, scoring 25 points on 6-of-12 shooting.

As Michael Strahan interviewed Paul Allen on the Super Bowl victor’s podium Sunday night, a Crimson sports editor stood between the NFL Hall of Famer and the Microsoft billionaire, taking in the moment.

Peter McLoughlin ’79 was not there to cover the Big Game. After all, he preferred to write about lacrosse and hockey.  He was there to accept the Vince Lombardi Trophy as president of the Seattle Seahawks.
