Last weekend at its awards banquet at the Harvard Club of Boston, the Harvard men's hockey team named juniors Michael Del Mauro and Chris Huxley as its 117th and 118th captains. Classmate Kyle Richter was designated as assistant captain.

In the 111-year history of Crimson hockey, only four pairs of co-captains had been named prior to Del Mauro and Huxley.

Huxley, a defenseman from Weymouth, Mass., has been a consistent presence in the Harvard defense since his freshman year. As a rookie, Huxley helped the Crimson to the top spot in the ECAC in scoring defense and penalty killing. In the 2008-2009 season, Huxley was just one of five players on the Harvard roster to skate in all 31 games and formed part of the ECAC's top power play unit.

Hailing from Watchung, N.J., Del Mauro has been a two-year ECAC All-Academic selection. The forward notched three assists this season—against Colgate, Yale and Dartmouth.

Before taking last year off due to unspecified reasons, Richter was named the ECAC Goalie of the Year in his sophomore season after pacing the league with a 1.82-goals against average and a .935 save percentage. After sharing duty between the pipes earlier this season with classmate Ryan Carroll, Richter took over the starting position soon after Harvard's loss to Northeastern in the Beanpot.

The trio will look to turn the Crimson around after a season in which the team held a 9-21-3 overall record that included a 10 game no-win streak in November and December.
