SPORTS BRIEF: Women’s Soccer Game Postponed

A year ago, the Harvard women’s soccer team stomped on Fairfield, 4-1, at Ohiri Field.

Heavy rainfall may have cost the Stags (4-5-2) their chance at payback this year.

Originally scheduled for yesterday evening, Fairfield’s home contest with the Crimson (4-4-1) was postponed indefinitely on account of inclement weather.

The schools have not agreed on a make-up date.

The matchup would have been the Stags’ final non-conference game, while Harvard—currently on a two-game winning streak—has two non-league games still remaining: contests against Siena and Quinnipiac on Oct. 19th and 25th, respectively.

Both squads will welcome league rivals to their home fields this weekend, as the Crimson hosts Cornell Saturday morning at Ohiri Field, and Fairfield takes on conference rivals Manhattan and St. Peter’s.

The matchup would have been the teams’ fourth in as many years.

The Stags have gone winless against Harvard during the three previous years, scoring only once.

The two schools played to a scoreless tie in 2008.
