Two people were apprehended Saturday at approximately 4:45 p.m. for trespassing in Kirkland House, according to an e-mail from Steven J. Catalano, the spokesman for the Harvard University Police Department.
Joseph and Elissa Cadillic “piggybacked” into Kirkland House—the scene of a May 18 shooting that ended in the death of Justin Cosby—with a student, according to Catalano.
“The student immediately approached an officer in the area with concerns about the individuals’ entry into the building,” Catalano wrote in his e-mail.
Joseph Cadillic, a private investigator, said he was charged with trespassing yesterday after attempting to take pictures of the scene of the shooting that took place in J-entryway.
Cadillic was unwilling to reveal the name of his client.
Elissa Cadillic is Joseph’s wife who accompanied him to them scene.
The Crimson first learned of the arrest after receiving a call from James K. Herms, who called himself a “concerned citizen” on his way to bail out Cadillic. Herns bailed Cadillic and his wife out for $40 each, he said.
Herms is a member of the MIT Crime Club, which has “been doing an independent investigation,” according to Herms. The extent of Herms’ relationship with Cadillic is currently unknown.
Two weeks ago, Cambridge resident Justin Copney, 21, was fatally wounded in the Kirkland House annex during a drug rip off, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney. Later in the week, New York resident Justin Copney turned himself in to authorities and was charged with murder, though he pled not guilty. [SEE CORRECTION BELOW]

The June 1 news article "Private Eye Allegedly Breaks Into Kirkland House" misstated the names of the victim and the man charged with the murder in Kirkland House. The victim's name was Justin Cosby, not Justin Copney. The man charged with the murder is named Jabrai Jordan Copney, not Justin Copney.
