A bicyclist collided with a Harvard Shuttle bus early Sunday morning, according to the Harvard University Police Department.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Everett Street at approximately 1:10 a.m., according to HUPD spokesman Steven G. Catalano.

According to Erika P. Pierson ’12, who was one of the passengers on the shuttle, none of the 15 students on the bus were seriously injured.

According to Carl Tempesta, the manager of operations for Harvard Transportation Services, as the shuttle driver was making a right turn onto Everett Street, a bicyclist struck the passenger side of the bus causing her to fall off her bike.

The bicyclist, who Tempesta identified as a Lesley College graduate student, was taken by ambulance to a hospital for a complete medical evaluation.

According to Tempesta, the student suffered an ankle injury in addition to some scratches and bruises.

The shuttle, which was running on the extended overnight service line, was not damaged from the collision, according to Tempesta.

He added that the collision delayed shuttle service that night, but the shuttle resumed services Sunday morning.

Sunday’s collision is the second shuttle-related incident this past weekend as a Harvard shuttle was struck by another vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on a one-way street early Friday morning.

That accident occurred on Holoyoke Street at 12:45 a.m. and did not involve any injuries, according to Catalano.

Since both incidents did not occur on Harvard property, they fall under the jurisdiction of the Cambridge Police Department.
