The Crimson Editorial Board is pleased to announce its Fall 2007 columnists

Christopher B. Lacaria ’09

is a history concentrator in Kirkland House and the editor of The Harvard Salient. “Conservative” in habit and disposition, but not in ideology, his column, “Modernity and Its Discontents,” will critically survey the absurdities and excesses of the postmodern Academy on alternate Mondays.

Lucy M. Caldwell ’09

is a history and literature concentrator in Adams House. Returning for a second semester, her column, “Spilt Milk,” will examine the collision of modern mores with conventional society on alternate Tuesdays. Incidentally, Caldwell only cries over spilt triple nonfat lattes with extra foam.

N. Kathy Lin ’08

is a social studies concentrator in Winthrop House. Despite having grown up in the States, she sometimes has the nagging suspicion that she may be a bit more Fresh Off the Boat than she realized. Follow her attempts to play Alice Walker for Asian America in “The Color Yellow,” which will run on alternate Wednesdays.

Aparicio J. Davis ’10

is an Economics Concentrator in Leverett House. His column, “From the Nosebleeds,” will examine various aspects of our society through the lens of its greatest diversion—sports. It will appear on alternate Thursdays.

Adam Goldenberg ’08

is a social studies concentrator in Winthrop House. His column, “Sardonic Verses,” returns for a fifth semester of irreverent commentary on higher education, and an outsider’s perspective on the daily news. All this, and more, on alternate Fridays.

Jarret A. Zafran ’09

is a social studies concentrator in Leverett House. His column, “The Naked Truth,” will provide an alternate look at the 2008 elections by deconstructing the popular myths and misconceptions that the media and campaigns try to promote. It will run on alternate Mondays.

Alexandra A. Petri ’10

is a joint concentrator in English and Classics in Eliot House. She hopes that the distinct perspective on life and Harvard embodied in her column, “Petri Dishes,” will foster the development of university culture. Join her on alternate Tuesdays as she tackles relevant issues while trying to avoid any more bad puns.

Justine R. Lescroart ’09

is an English concentrator who usually lives in Quincy House, although she is rather far away from it right now. She spent the summer in Beijing, China and is abroad this fall in Granada, Spain. Her column, “Here and There,” will focus on the intersection between all things domestic and foreign, on alternate Wednesdays.

Adaner Usmani ’08

is a social studies concentrator in Dunster House, and returns to Harvard feeling curiously empowered after a humbling semester in Nicaragua and a disheartening summer in Pakistan. Through his column, “To the Left, To the Left,” on alternate Thursdays, he hopes to communicate to readers the urgent need for radically democratic politics.

Sahil K. Mahtani ’08

is director of recruiting at The Crimson and a history concentrator in Winthrop House. His column, “The Stock of the Puritans,” will provide an historical perspective on the issues vexing Harvard College today. It will appear on alternate Fridays.
