The Harvard women’s tennis team sailed past UC Davis on Friday, beating the Aggies, 6-1.

The Crimson’s second victory of the season was only the second loss at home for UC Davis.

Unlike Harvard’s last match against Pacific, where the lead fluctuated throughout the day, there was no anxiety in this meeting. The Crimson easily took the first four points, giving the squad an early, stress-free victory.

Harvard’s No. 2 doubles team of Preethi Mukundan and Elizabeth Brook started the day off right, winning its match against the Aggies’ Anita Athavale and Emma Shapiro, 8-2. Beier Ko and Lena Litvak at No. 1 doubles soon followed Mukundan and Brook’s example, picking up an 8-6 win over Jenna Kappel and Herzyl Legaspi and clinching the doubles point.

Ko also won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3, over Desiree Stone, as did Litvak (6-2, 6-1) against Legaspi at No. 2. At No. 3, Mukundan sailed past Kappel, 6-2, 6-0, allowing Harvard to pick up the victory.

Julia Forgie and Vilsa Curto, who is also a Crimson editor, also won their matches at the fourth and fifth singles positions, respectively.

The lone point for UC Davis was at No. 6 singles, with Jessica Harris defeating Harvard’s Rachel Gottlieb, 6-2, 6-1. The Aggies’ No. 3 doubles team of Phillips and Stone also bested Forgie and Curto, 8-5.
