The Crimson Editorial Board is pleased to announce its Fall 2006 columnists

Eric A. Kester ’08

an anthropology concentrator in Winthrop House, will provide a humorous view of the life of a Harvard student in his column, “Are You Serious?” Join Eric on alternating Mondays as he reflects upon the unintentional comedy that permeates the building blocks of this institution: academic excellence, athletic prowess, and facebook.com, to name a few.

Victoria Ilyinsky ’07

is a Romance languages and literature concentrator in Leverett House. She spent the spring in Chile where she learned just how complicated communication can be. Back in Cambridge, she plans to explore popular phraseology on campus and the possible meanings behind it in her column “On Our Language” on alternate Mondays.

Bede A. Moore ’06-’07

is a history concentrator from Winthrop House and the World Editor of the Harvard Political Review. Worried about the condition of the fourth estate and convinced that “Media Matters,” his column will look at campus, national, and international media issues on alternate Tuesdays.

Travis Kavulla ’06- ’07

is a history concentrator from Mather House, the former editor of The Harvard Salient, and the longest-serving columnist on The Crimson. He returns for a fifth and final semester to write “The Learning Curve,” focusing (mostly) on undergraduate education, which will run on alternate Tuesdays.

Charles R. Drummond IV ’09

a history concentrator in Adams House, aims to provide serious analysis of flippant issues. His column “Musings on Mores,” which covers American popular culture in a satirical and occasionally curmudgeonly manner, could best be described as an erudite commentary on TV Guide. It will appear on alternate Wednesdays.

Ashton R. Lattimore ’08

is an English concentrator in Dunster House. Her column “Identity Politics” will appear on alternate Wednesdays and will aim to examine the ways in which the many facets of people’s identities can color situations, cause conflict, and occasionally contradict each other.

Andrew C. Esensten ’07

also known as DJ Estyle, is a literature and African American studies concentrator in Adams House. In his column “Freestyle,” he will rap about race, class, politics, the language of power, and the power of language. Tune in on alternate Thursdays for some real talk.

Mark A. Adomanis ’07

is a government major from Eliot House. As a coxswain for the men’s varsity lightweight crew team, and a native Philadelphian, he has developed a highly tuned sense of observation, and hopes to bring this to bear on the international issues of the day in “On the Lookout.” His column will appear on alternate Thursdays.

Adam Goldenberg ’08

is a social studies concentrator in Winthrop House. His column, “Sardonic Verses,” will continue to offer an irreverent outsider’s perspective on the daily news, campus issues, and the world in general on alternate Fridays.

Sahil K. Mahtani ’08

is an associate editorial chair and history concentrator in Winthrop House. His column, “The Stock of the Puritans,” will provide an historical perspective on the issues vexing Harvard College today. It will appear on alternate Fridays.
