The Harvard chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon can boast of the highest GPA of any SAE chapter in the “province.”
The province comprises the 11 SAE chapters in the Northeast area.
Harvard SAE has an aggregated GPA of 3.48, beating other Ivy League schools such as Yale and Dartmouth. Dartmouth came in second with an average 3.40 GPA. Yale did not make the top three.
The president of Harvard SAE, Nicolas A. Yannuzzi ’07, said he was thrilled to be the leader of the smartest SAE chapter in the region, but stressed that “one of the greatest things about being a part of the largest national fraternity is that we cross paths with guys from all over the country.”
“They’re all great and they’re all different,” Yannuzzi added.
In addition, Harvard SAE received the Rush Award for having the number one rush in the province—attracting the highest recruits of any chapter. It also garnered the Philanthropy Award and placed second in the Most Improved Chapter competition. According to Jonathan M. Hyman ’08, Harvard SAE raised over $3,400 to benefit the American Cancer Society and will continue such work in the future.
Roy T. Willey IV ’09, SAE’s alumni relations officer, said he was excited by the number of awards his fraternity chapter won. “It is an awesome feeling to see a year of hard work pay off.” Willey said. “As Harvard’s ‘true gentlemen,’” he said, alluding to the SAE slogan, “we are on our way to great things.”
