The Harvard women’s swimming team took fifth overall at the Georgia Invitational meet this weekend. Six teams competed in the event, with host Georgia taking the victory. The Bulldogs scored 1015 points, while the Crimson managed 268.

The women won one event through Sunday and made it to the B-Final of a number of the others.

Harvard’s moment to shine came when junior diver Samantha Papadakis triumphed in the 1-Meter Diving event. Papadakis placed No. 4 in the 3-Meter event, the Crimson’s second highest finish of the two days.

The Harvard freshmen were the team’s top finishers in a number of events. Freshman Alexandra Clarke finished No. 11 in the 500-yard freestyle and No. 16 in the 200-yard freestyle. In the 400-yard medley relay, Clarke helped her team of juniors Lindsay Hart, Jackie Pangilinan, and Bridget O’Connor to a No. 9 finish. In the last event of Day Two, she was part of another ninth place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a team of Hart, senior Emily Wilson and freshman Sophie Morgan.

Hart helped another relay team to a solid finish and two other top Harvard finishes. Her team of Pangilinan, O’Connor, and junior Amanda Slaight finished No. 7 in the 200-yard medley relay. In her individual events, Hart finished No. 12 in the 200-yard individual medley and No. 9 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Slaight also helped her team of O’Connor, junior Meaghan Colling, and senior and co-captain Noelle Bassi to a No. 10 finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Her individual finish came in the 50-yard freestyle, where she finished No. 19. Harvard’s two other high finishes came from Pangilinan and senior LeeAnn Chang.
