Police Rules Out Foul Play In Fall

The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) has determined that there was no foul play involved in a junior’s fall from Leverett House Tower F this past Thursday.

The student, Steven R. Snyder ’04-’08, fell from the ninth floor last week, suffering serious injuries.

While the circumstances surrounding his fall are still unclear, HUPD closed its investigation yesterday after concluding it is not a criminal matter, according to HUPD spokesman Steven G. Catalano.

After his fall, Snyder was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he was listed in “critical condition,” according to hospital spokesman Jerry Berger.

On Friday, he was upgraded to “serious condition.” As of yesterday, his condition was still listed as “serious,” said hospital spokeswoman Cindy Whitcome.

According to hospital policies, Beth Israel categorizes patients as “good,” “fair,” “serious,” and “critical.”

Snyder, 25, is a mathematics concentrator from Avon Lake, Ohio.
