It was hardly David versus Goliath, but when Harvard traveled to Princeton on April 16, the Tigers held the No. 1 ranking the Crimson had owned for two years. No. 3 Harvard rode an 18-race win streak, but was expected to lose in New Jersey.
Harvard instead departed Lake Carnegie with the No. 1 ranking, topping Princeton by 6.4 seconds.
“I don’t really put much faith in rankings,” captain Aaron Holzapfel said. “Rankings don’t win races.”
No. 1 Harvard finished its EARC season with a 6-0 record and a third consecutive Eastern Sprints title, defeating Princeton again at Lake Quinsigamond.
