7:12 a.m.—Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) officers reported to Johnston Gate in response to an alleged fight in progress. By the time the responding officers arrived, the fight had ended. Two people were taken to the hospital.
5:16 p.m.—A person approached officers to report the theft of an unattended and unsecured backpack at Holyoke Center. The stolen backpack had been filled with $1,750 worth of items, including an IBM ThinkPad computer and a pair of prescription glasses.
April 30:
3:39 a.m.—Officers were dispatched to Somerville in response to a Harvard affiliate who had been assaulted.
5:27 p.m.—Officers responded to Hauser Hall because of a report alleging there was a suspicious burning smell in the building. The HUPD officers discovered the source of the odor—a computer—and proceeded to shut it off.
9:13 p.m.—An officer was sent to Annenberg Hall to investigate an individual who had been refusing to leave a function. The officer searched the area but could not find the individual.
May 1:
1:53 a.m.—A report about a person attempting to board the shuttle bus dressed only in undergarments led HUPD officers to the Quad. The underwear-clad rider was, ultimately, not allowed to board the bus.
8:16 p.m.—Officers were sent out to investigate a report about two people “horsing around” at University Hall. The responding officers located them and sent them away.
8:33 p.m.—An officer reported to Jordan Hall, on 91 Walker St., on a report of people carrying a keg of beer around. The officer was unable to locate the individuals.
May 2:
12:00 a.m.—Officers observed several people acting “suspiciously” near the John Harvard statue. Upon further investigation, the officers discovered the area around the statue had been defaced with chalk. The perpetrators were checked for wants and warrants—a search that proved unsuccessful—and then sent away. A clean-up crew was notified to remove the chalk.
12:29 a.m.—An officer observed a group throwing items off a roof at 43 Mount Auburn St. The officer first noticed the group was heaving items from above because one of those items nearly hit an HUPD cruiser. CPD responded and took over the scene.
1:13 a.m.—HUPD officers assisted CPD in the search of an individual who had earlier attempted robbery at a church.
