Corriero, Chu, Banfield, and Stone net end-of-season honors as Crimson continues to earn recognition

Once again, the Harvard women’s hockey team’s impressive season was honored as a number of players added one more distinction to their resumes.

The 2004-2005 New England Hockey Writer’s Women’s Division I All-Star team was anounced yesterday, and the veteran offensive duo of tri-captains Nicole Corriero and Julie Chu were named as forwards. Senior Ashley Banfield also earned a spot as part of the defense.

The main individual awards were also given to the Crimson, as Corriero was named Player of the Year and head coach Katey Stone was given the Coach of the Year honor.

Corriero’s 59 goals during the season not only broke the past women’s record, but tied the overall collegiate record set by Mike Donnelly of Michigan State in 1986.

Stone is currently one of seven finalists for the ACHA Coach of the Year award.
