Feb. 25:
8:24 a.m.—Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) officers were dispatched to assist Cambridge Police Department (CPD) in the arrest of an individual at Mt. Auburn Street for engaging in “open and gross” behavior.
2:24 p.m.—An officer reported to Science Center because of a report about a trash barrel having caught fire. The responding officer extinguished the “minor” fire, which he or she speculated had been caused by a discarded cigarette.
4:07 p.m.—Officer was sent to Baker Hall in Allston to investigate the theft of an unsecured, unattended silver Trio 600 cell phone. The stolen item was valued at $450.
Feb. 26:
10:19 a.m.—An HUPD officer was sent to Quincy House on reports of three harassing phone calls. An officer had taken note of a report of a harassing call in Quincy House five hours earlier.
10:01 p.m.—Officers reported to Adams House because of a complaint about a person screaming. CPD was notified, although the alleged late-night yeller could not be found.
Feb. 27:
5:07 p.m.—An officer reported the theft of a white, Mongoose Mountain bicycle and lock at Adams House. The stolen item—which had been taken from a bicycle rack outside the building—was valued at $730.
Feb. 28:
2:42 a.m.—An HUPD officer was sent to Thayer Hall to investigate a report about something striking a window, causing it to break. Security reported that a boisterous group had been hurling snow balls throughout the Yard. Police could not find the group.
9:38 a.m.—An officer reported to Hauser Hall to take possession of a “suspicious” envelope containing “rantings” in both written and typed form.
9:01 p.m.—Officer was dispatched to Loker Commons because of a report regarding a dispute over a pool game that allegedly resulted in a person chucking a pool ball at another person.
March 1:
2:58 p.m.—An HUPD officer was sent to Gund Hall to report on the theft of a silver Nikon camera worth $375 and a Sony camera worth $1,500. The items had been stolen from a secured office.
7:18 p.m.—Officer reported a missing security deposit of $1,275 from a rental scam at 20 Prescott St.
March 2:
5:27 a.m.—HUPD officers assisted CPD in apprehending two individuals wanted by police. The individuals were apprehended at Kirkland Street and Francis Avenue and then taken into custody by CPD.
3:37 p.m.—Officers were sent to the Kennedy School of Government to investigate an individual reported to have been “looking around the building.” The officers found the meandering man and determined he or she was looking for an event.
5:33 p.m.—An officer reported to the Vanserg building because of a call regarding a man who was carrying a crying child. The caller said he or she was “pretty sure the child is the man’s son but wanted to make sure.” The officer searched the area but could not find them.
March 3:
2:11 p.m.—HUPD officers stopped three individuals in Matthews Hall who had been soliciting the dorms in the Yard. All three were identified, issued a no-trespassing warning and escorted off the property. The College’s Safety Committee discussed last Friday the concern that some solicitors are looking to pillage unlocked, unattended dorm rooms.
9:36 p.m.—An officer was sent to Shaw Hall because of reports about a group carrying sticks (possibly hockey sticks). The officer was unable to locate the group after searching the area.
