POLICE LOG

Sept 1:

11:04 a.m.—Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) officers were sent to the Bright Hockey Center to take a report of a stolen Ivy League Champions banner worth $650 and seven Ivy League school banners worth $1,412.25.

12:11 p.m.—Officers were dispatched to investigate a report of an unknown individual on the roof of 30 Kennedy St. banging on the skylights. The officers located the individual and a warrant check turned up negative. They arrested Daniel J. Kissane, 46, of Dorchester.

2:15 p.m.—An officer was sent to 124 Mt. Auburn Street to take a report of a stolen Hruby oil painting worth $1,200.

Sept. 2:

12:45 a.m.—An HUPD crime alert said that a resident of Story Hall observed an unknown male looking into the shower stall in which she was taking a shower. When questioned, the suspect fled the area. Upon investigation, officers observed several propped doors allowing unfettered access to the building. The offender was described as an Asian or white male, 5’6” to 5’8” in height, short dark spiked hair parted to the right, wearing a dark color shirt.

5:17 p.m.—HUPD and Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officers were dispatched to Au Bon Pain on a report of an assault that had just occurred. Officers reported the incident occurred at 1340 Mass Ave. and CPD had already taken a suspect into custody.

Sept. 3:

1:58 p.m.—Officers were sent to Dunster House on a report of a disturbance in progress. Officers arrested Carlos Perez, 36, of Boston for assault with a dangerous weapon.

Sept. 6:

1:42 p.m.—HUPD officers reported a low-flying blue and white helicopter over Harvard Yard. Officers notified Massachusetts State Police and the Harvard News Office. The helicopter subsequently left the area.

Sept. 8:

10:17 p.m.-—Officers investigated several people believed to be smoking a Class D substance, believed to be marijuana, on Weeks Bridge. Officers ran a warrant check on the individuals, and then confiscated the substance and a knife and sent the individuals on their way.

Sept. 10:

1:55 p.m.—HUPD officers were sent to University Hall to check on a suspicious person asking odd questions about Harvard buildings and videotaping them. The person was gone when the officers arrived.

Sept. 12:

4:09 p.m.—A person walked into HUPD headquarters at 1033 Mass. Ave. to report a case of harassment via phone, e-mail and voicemail that had occurred from Sept. 2 to Sept. 11 at Eliot House.

7:50 p.m.—An HUPD officer was dispatched to Matthews Hall to take a report of a stolen debit card and $70 cash taken while unattended.

Sept. 13:

1:13 a.m.—Officers were sent to Wigglesworth Hall on a report of a burglary in progress. The caller reported that an individual had lifted the window screen and was reaching in for a bottle of Listerine. No suspect description was available. A search of the area turned up negative.

9:07 p.m.—Officers were dispatched to Lowell House to take a report of a stolen IBM ThinkPad laptop worth $2,000 and a stolen backpack valued at $40.

Sept. 14:

9:41 p.m.—HUPD officers responded to a report of a person screaming for help by the Charles River. After officers located the individual, who was not affiliated with the University, they notified State Police and Professional Ambulance. The person was transported to a medical facility for treatment.

10:32 p.m.—An officer was sent to Matthews Hall to take a report of a person following another person around campus that day.

Sept. 16:

11:19 a.m.—An officer responded to a report of a person asking suspicious questions about the soccer team at the soccer fields on Allston. It was determined the person was a Harvard affiliate’s parent.

10:47 p.m.—An officer was sent to Au Bon Pain to take a report of a person that had struck an employee. HUPD and CPD officers located the individual at their residence and arrested Emmanuel Pierce, 39, of Cambridge, on charges of assault and battery to intimidate with bodily injury.
