Penn’s 0-2 Ivy start is now a distant memory.
The Quakers (10-8, 3-2 Ivy) stormed into Jadwin Gym and defeated Ivy League leading Princeton (11-7, 4-1) last night, 67-52.
The Penn victory makes the Ivy League race much more interesting, as four teams are with in a game of the lead in the loss column. Harvard sits four back in the loss column with a 1-5 record in the league.
The Tigers couldn’t put together a signifcant run down the stretch to cut into the Penn lead. A three by Princeton guard Will Venable with 9:06 remaining pulled the Tigers to within 14, 55-41. But the Quakers slammed the door with an 8-0 run, capped off by a trifecta from guard Jeff Schiffner—three of his game-high 22 points on the night.
Princeton stayed with Penn early in the contest, trailing just 16-14 with 8:35 remaining in the first half. The Quakers ran away from the Tigers on the strength of a 15-4 run pushing its lead to 13. Penn maintained that double-digit advantage for the rest of the contest.
