Oct. 1:
4:42 p.m.—A Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) officer was sent to Lamont Library to assist with a person who was irate over an expired identification card which had been confiscated. The officer settled the situation and confiscated the ID. The individual was allowed to remain in the library.
11:52 p.m.—An officer was dispatched to Currier House to take a report of a vandalized vending machine. The contents were removed and are being stored at HUPD until the vending machine company can retrieve them.
Oct. 2:
1:50 p.m.—HUPD officers were sent to the Vanserg building to investigate a report of two juveniles looking into locked classrooms. A search of the area turned up negative.
2:04 p.m.—Officers were sent to the Perkins Hall parking lot on Oxford Street on a report of a car alarm that had gone off sporadically for a week. The officers were unable to locate the owner, and left a message on the vehicle and by phone. Officers left numerous notes and messages for a week. The vehicle was subsequently towed as a public nuisance.
Oct. 3:
4:28 a.m.—An officer noticed a person walking around with an unused fire extinguisher at Weld Hall. The officer spoke to the person, ran a warrant check and sent the person on their way with a trespass warning for all of Harvard University property. The officer determined the extinguisher’s location and put it back.
6:13 p.m.—An HUPD officer was sent to Johnston Gate to take a report of a stolen black Ralley mountain bike with a value of $250 that was taken from the bike rack next to the gate. The theft occurred between Oct. 1 at 6:30 a.m. and Oct. 2 at 12 p.m.
Oct. 4:
10:03 p.m.—Officers and Environmental Health and Safety officials were sent to the New Research Building on a report of a small chemical spill. They determined a small amount of substance had spilled into a wastepaper basket and that it was contained.
Oct. 5:
3:33 p.m.—Officers were dispatched on a report of an individual on a bicycle who had touched a female inappropriately in front of Pennypacker Hall. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-20 years of age, with dark hair in a buzz cut. The suspect was wearing a blue and white striped long sleeved shirt and rode a “short” bicycle. Both HUPD and Cambridge Police Department officers checked the area with negative results.
7:31 p.m.—An HUPD officer was sent to the Faculty Club to take a report of $225 taken from an unattended purse.
Oct. 6:
1:57 a.m.—Officers were dispatched to the Science Center on a report of a person removing computer equipment from the building while claiming the equipment was theirs. Officers determined it was theirs and let them continue removing it.
Oct. 7:
7:55 p.m.—HUPD officers were sent to the New Research Building to investigate a report of a person acting suspiciously. Security guards questioned the person, who walked away and returned later. Officers located the person and conducted a field interview. A warrant check came up positive, so officers arrested Knanh Vo, 41, of Dorchester, for outstanding warrants.
11:54 p.m.—Officer were sent to investigate a report of loud noise at the Harvard Lampoon, a semi-secret Sorrento Square organization that used to occasionally publish a so-called humor magazine. Officers had the occupants turn off their exterior music.
