A man was attacked on DeWolfe St. early yesterday morning when two armed men struck him with a handgun and stole his personal belongings, according to the Cambridge Police Department (CPD).

At 2:12 a.m., a white male and a black male approached the victim, who is unaffiliated with the University, while he was walking down the street, CPD spokesperson Frank D. Pasquarello said.

One suspect told the victim to empty his pockets while the other put a handgun to his head. After a brief struggle, the victim was hit on the head with the handgun and knocked down to the ground, according to an advisory released by the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) yesterday.

The suspects fled after they stole money and personal objects from the injured victim, the advisory said.

The victim was evaluated at Cambridge City Hospital, according to HUPD spokesperson Steven G. Catalano.

Pasquarello said the victim is home safely today.

The victim reported that one suspect was a six-foot-tall white male, 18-22 years of age, wearing a gray fleece jacket with a hood. The other suspect was a black male of similar height and weight, wearing a black jacket with a hood, he said.

The last armed robbery in the area occurred on Dec. 21 when three Harvard Business School students were robbed at gunpoint at the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Bow Street.

Pasquarello also said this incident is unrelated to the two stabbings that occurred by the Quad last month.

“We made an arrest [for those cases] several weeks ago,” he said. “It was a 16-year-old juvenile.”
