Dec. 15:
5:05:06 p.m.—Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) officers were sent to the Medical School’s Gordon Hall on a report of a suspicious package left in front of the building. The package was a Christmas gift with a card addressed to a person working in the building. The officer left the package on the receptionist’s desk.
Dec. 16:
2:19:00 a.m.—Officers were sent to Widener Library to investigate a report of people hiding in the Yard and scaring passers-by. The officers determined that the people in question were final clubs pledges and sent them on their way with a warning to cease and desist their behavior.
Dec. 17:
3:55:56 p.m.—Officers took a report of a stolen backpack at Currier House.
Dec. 18:
1:35:05 p.m.—An officer was sent to the biological laboratories to take a report of stolen laptops.
Dec. 19:
10:01:48 p.m.—An officer was approached by a person at the Science Center mall who said someone on a bicycle drove up and asked, “Why aren’t you afraid?” before driving off. A search for the suspect turned up negative.
11:53:18 p.m.—An officer was sent to Mower Hall in the Yard to investigate a noise in a room that should be vacant. The officer determined that a student was in the room. The proctor is handling the situation.
Dec. 20:
8:12:19 p.m.—An officer was sent to the Yard on a report of a person being followed by three males. The officer was unable to locate the suspects.
Dec. 21:
10:50:05 a.m.—An officer took a report of a stolen television at 60 Oxford St.
Dec. 22:
4:50:36 p.m.—An officer observed a person, apparently intoxicated, lying down in the street. Boston Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to the hospital.
Dec. 23:
7:01:24 p.m.—An officer sent to the Mather House tower on a report of a person stuck in an elevator was unable to locate anyone stuck in the elevator.
Dec. 24:
9:49:24 a.m.—An officer was dispatched to 1230 Soldiers Field Rd. to take a report of a past motor vehicle accident.
Dec. 26:
2:06:32 p.m.—Officers escorted an unwanted guest off the premises at 24 Dunster St.
Dec. 27:
10:33:46 a.m.—An officer observed a small demonstration on the sidewalk at 200 Longwood Ave.
Dec. 28:
9:03:07 a.m.—An officer observed a person who was previously given a trespass warning for all University property sleeping at Harkness Commons at the Law School. The officer arrested 27-year-old Roger E. Abernathy of Brighton for trespassing.
Dec. 29:
12:17:41 p.m.—Officers were sent to 474 Broadway St. on a report of a trespasser in a vacant apartment. The party had left by the time the officer arrived.
Dec. 30:
11:01:29 p.m.—Officers removed an unwanted guest from the Au Bon Pain in Holyoke Center.
Dec. 31:
11:01:23 a.m.—An officer took a report at HUPD headquarters of sexual assault.
Jan. 1:
5:46:20 p.m.—An officer took a report of three broken windows at Mather House.
Jan. 2:
1:24:18 p.m.—An HUPD officer arrested 49-year-old Richard Vaillancourt, who is homeless, at Harkness Commons for an outstanding warrant.
7:51:20 p.m.—An officer was sent to Harvard Hall to investigate a suspicious box. The officer determined the box contained iced soft drinks.
Jan. 3:
3:15:09 a.m.—Officers were sent to Tommy’s Pizza on the report of an open door. The officers found both front and back doors open. Cambridge Police took over the scene.
Jan. 4:
10:26:31 p.m.—An officer was sent to Hilles Library on a report of a computer, shoes and coat left unattended. The individual was found asleep on the couch and had left the building before the officer arrived.
