Police Log

Jan. 22:

7:16 p.m.--A clerk at the Malkin Athletic Center reported four unauthorized men entering the building. The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) responded and located the individuals. They were released after a field interview.

Jan. 23:

5:21 p.m.--HUPD responded to the Andover Street parking lot after complaints about a group of youths skateboarding. The group was gone when police arrived.

6:26 p.m.--An officer responded to Shaw Hall and a report of a theft of office supplies from a supply closet.

Jan. 24:

1:49 a.m.--An officer stopped a suspicious group at the John Harvard statue. The students agreed to the officer's suggestion that they remove the traffic cone from the statue's head.

2:07 a.m.--A group of people on the Charles River ice near the Weeks footbridge scattered when HUPD officers approached.

9:26 a.m.--An employee at the Goldenson building reported a break-in that had occured overnight. The responding officer noticed a broken window in a bathroom, and completed an investigation. University engineers secured the window.

11:12 a.m.--A caller from the Holyoke Center asked HUPD officers to remove a homeless person. HUPD officers escorted the individual to a shelter at 240 Albany St.

11:33 a.m.--Residents of Westengard House reported a strong smell of gas in the building. HUPD officers discovered a gas company work crew, who said that they were repairing a broken gas main. The Cambridge police was on the scene and secured the area.
