Police Log

July 28

A Cambridge resident reported to the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) that an unknown person broke into his home through the rear door. Pry marks were visible on the front door.

A resident of Prospect Street reported to CPD that while on the corner of Cambridge and Springfield, two black males approached him and punched him in the face. They then removed $10 from his pocket and took his bike.

A resident of North Billerica reported to CPD that she and her friend were involved in an argument over five dollars at her friend's residence on Harvard Street. The suspect attacked the reporting person, pulling out her hair, biting her index finger and punching her on the right cheek. The victim said that another unknown individual showed up at her house to sell crack.

July 29

A resident of the Philippines reported to CPD that while in the Hyatt Regency lobby, a Middle Eastern man spilled coffee on him. The suspect and another Middle Eastern man then assisted the victim in drying him off. When the victim went back to the counter to retrieve his wallet, it was gone. The wallet contained $3,100 in traveler's checks, airline tickets and calling cards.

A caller reported to the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) that two individuals were involved in a fight. Officers arrived and found two chess players having a verbal argument. Peace was restored.

A HUPD officer assisted a cab driver with a fare dispute. The situation was rectified.

July 30

A Cambridge taxi operator reported to CPD that at 1:15 a.m., a passenger he dropped off at Jefferson Park stole keys to the taxi after paying the fee. The operator proceeded to chase the suspect through a housing complex. When the operator returned to his taxi, four black males were inside. They stole $160 in cash.

July 31

A Cambridge resident reported to CPD that unknown person(s) broke her driver's side window and radio antenna off her 1992 Nissan. A pair of shoes was also taken.

HUPD officers responded to a report of four males with a ladder attempting to gain entrance into the Crimson Newspaper building. The suspects were foiled. They were identified and a report was filed.

A caller reported to HUPD that three baby squirrels were injured near a tree in the main yard. An officer was sent to investigate and found the injured animals. Animal rescue was called to help the squirrels.

August 1

A HUPD officer responded after a concerned wife phoned looking for her husband who was a participant in a Harvard University program. The subject was located and advised to call home immediately.

August 2

8 p.m.--A Lincoln Way resident reported to CPD that she was being threatened by a white male from the same location. She was being yelled and cussed at by the suspect after asking hm to move his car. Later, the suspect returned, telling the reporting person to come outside so that his girlfriend could fight her.

A caller reported to HUPD that a group of non-students were causing a disturbance outside of Greenough Hall.
