The Harvard women's basketball team made its mark on the All-Ivy basketball teams that were named yesterday afternoon. Captain Laela Sturdy, sophomore point guard Jennifer Monti, junior forward Melissa Johnson and freshman guard Breehan Kelley all earned All-Ivy honors for their stellar play last season.

Sturdy won a spot on the All-Ivy First Team after enjoying the most successful season of her career. Sturdy led the team in scoring (13.6 ppg), field goal percentage (.515), and three-point field goal percentage (.473) for the year. Her sharp shooting made her the Ivy League's leading three-point shooter and one of the nation's most dangerous threats from beyond the three-point arc.

Monti was the only Crimson player announced yesterday who had won All-Ivy honors for the second year in a row after winning a spot on the All-Rookie Team during her freshman year. Playing in all 26 games this season, Monti averaged 8.7 points and 5.8 assists per game.

Even though she missed seven of the Crimson's final eight games, Johnson still garnered an honorable mention for her spectacular play earlier this season. Before her injury, she was leading the team in rebounding with 11.4 boards per game and was second to Sturdy in scoring with 12.2 points per game.

Only the third freshman in Harvard history to earn a spot on the All-Rookie Team, Kelley exploded onto the Ivy League scene last year by averaging 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Kelley ably replaced the loss of sophomore guard Katie Gates, who was recovering from a serious concussion suffered late in the season.

Harvard, which finished second in the Ivy League, ended its 1999-2000 campaign with a 16-10 overall record.
