Cheryl Hoffman has joined the Faculty of Arts and Sciences as associate dean for finance, the University announced this month.
The associate dean for finance is in charge of the University payroll and administers more than a dozen Faculty research funding programs.
Hoffman, who replaces Ann E. Berman in the associate dean position, managed finance for health care companies including Albany Memorial Health Systems for nearly 20 years before joining the University's administration.
She moved to Boston in 1995 and, as chief financial officer of New England Deaconess Hospital, supervised the 1996 merger between Deaconess and Beth Israel Hospital and served as the merged hospital's chief financial officer.
The associate dean for finance is one of three associate dean positions under Faculty Dean of Administration Nancy L. Maull.
The dean of administration oversees the business operations of the Faculty, including its governance, finances, buildings, and personnel who are not teaching faculty.
