The Undergraduate Council plans to hold special elections to fill seats vacated by several recent resignations and expulsions for poor attendance.

According to Vice President John A. Burton '01, there are three openings in Cabot House, one in Currier, one in Dudley and one in Winthrop.

Candidates who wish to run for the open slots must declare their intent to do so no later than Nov. 27, Burton said. Voting will take place using the FAS network's "ucvote" system and is slated to last from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.

The council's executive board has final control over deadlines and may alter the dates as circumstances develop, he said.

A shortage of representatives has posed trouble for the council this year. Cabot House fielded no candidates in the council's original October elections. The House's council representation was briefly filled by three write-in candidates, until one resigned from the council and the other two were expelled for poor attendance.

In other council business, the council announced that the names of candidates petitioning to campaign for the presidency and vice presidency will be released on Nov. 22 over the council's open e-mail list. Campaigning is set to begin on Dec. 4, according to Election Commission Chair Kyle D. Hawkins '02, who is also a Crimson editor.
