Police Blotter

Dec. 12:

12:07 p.m.--A caller asked that an unwanted guest be removed from Au Bon Pain in the Square. The person was gone when the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) arrived.

4:02 p.m.--A child's head got stuck in a railing at Pound Hall. Rescue units arrived to find that the child had been freed.

4:15 p.m.--A fire was reported in an apartment at Peabody Terrace. No one was home at the time, and fire units forced entry into the apartment. The fire was caused by a pan on the stove. No one was hurt.

7:55 p.m.--HUPD received a report of a suspicious person outside Areeda Hall. The man turned out to be a father looking for his child who lives there.

10:16 p.m.--Someone was screaming at the John Harvard statue. HUPD could not locate Harvard's antagonist.

11:06 p.m.--Police located a man accused of disorderly conduct--the object of an evening-long search--at Au Bon Pain. HUPD assisted the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) in making the arrest.

Dec. 13:

10:52 a.m.--A wallet was stolen from Lamont library.

Dec. 15:

2:59 p.m.--HUPD units joined rescue units at the scene of an motor vehicle accident with injuries on Memorial Drive.

9:49 p.m.--A Lowell House student reported that an unwanted person was in his room. She was gone when HUPD arrived.

Dec. 16:

7:11 a.m.--Rescue units responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Mass. Ave and Garden Street. A Volvo had flipped on its back, pinning the driver inside.

10:43 p.m.--The building manager at 51 Brattle St. reported that a piece of luggage in the building had a "Do Not Disturb" sign on it. An HUPD officer determined that the luggage contained wine. It was left for its owners.

Dec. 17:

3:18 a.m.--A large group of loud students was reported outside the Lampoon castle, a semi-secret Sorrento Square social organization which used to occasionally publish a so-called humor magazine. The students were to found to be trying to tell jokes. They were unsuccessful.

6:15 a.m.--A caller reported that an unknown female was pounding on the door of a 10 DeWolfe St. resident. The female stated that she was a Kirkland House resident. She was escorted to the House by police for identification by a tutor.

11:38 p.m.--A man was issued a trespass warning for causing a disturbance in the ARCO Forum at the Kennedy School of Government.

Dec. 18:

3:18 a.m.--A working fire was reported at 37 Kirkland St.

10:05 a.m.--A student in Winthrop House reported an entryway was filled with smoke. Students were evacuated. Firefighters discovered that the user of a fireplace on the top floor of J entryway did not open the flue when starting the fire. Firefighters ventilated the entryway and students were allowed back inside.

Dec. 19:

5:12 a.m.--Vandalism was reported at Leverett House.
