University Vice President and General Counsel Anne Taylor and University Attorney Allan A. Ryan, Jr. will represent the defendants in a wrongful death civil suit filed at Middlesex Superior Court Wednesday.
The lawsuit charges the University, Dunster House Master Karel F. Liem, former Dunster House senior tutor Suzi Naiburg and Dunster House premedical advisor David B. Lombard with negligent acts that directly resulted in the 1995 death of Trang Phuong Ho '96.
According to Ryan, the attorneys are examining the court documents--served to the University yesterday--and will respond to the complaint within the court-prescribed deadline of 20 days.
The University is also obligated to produce its internal investigative files of the 1995 Dunster House murder-suicide for the plantiff before a month's time, unless granted an extension by the court.
Ryan said it is "premature" to comment on the University's reaction to the complaint.
Max D. Stern, attorney for the Ho family, said the case could come to trial if the suit is not resolved among the parties, approximating one to three years for a court date.
