WISHR Elects New Board Members

The Ticknor Lounge buzzed with excitement last night as the Women in Science of Harvard-Radcliffe (WISHR) were all on call to support their newest board members.

Elizabeth Chao '01, newly-elected president, and Jessica I. Chuang '00, newly-elected vice president, spent the duration of the group's meeting sighting goals for the upcoming year while taking suggestions from other members on the future of the group.

"We really want to focus on two goals. Making the group more prominent in the Harvard community and also reaching out to the greater Cambridge community," says Chao.

WISHR offers a place of support for women scientists on campus by presenting various panels, hosting dinners and supporting discussions with women in the field. Additionally, WISHR offers inspiration to young girls interested in science by working with Cambridge school age children.

"I plan to become more involved in the activities and function of WISHR and make sure that the organization's message is heard on campus," Secretary Shannon M. Nestor '01 wrote in an e-mail.
