To Our Readers

Since its inception 125 years ago, The Crimson has been a forum for student opinion and the primary voice of the student body. But with all undergraduates now receiving The Crimson at their doors each morning, our readership has become both larger and more diverse. To meet the needs and interests of our expanded readership, we are committed this year to establishing a diverse section that better reflects the make-up of the Harvard community. We have made several changes toward this end.

Beginning tomorrow, the editorial page will expand to one-and-a-half pages daily. Our increased space will enable us to print letters every day, giving them a priority they have never before enjoyed in The Crimson. And for the first time ever, a number of our bi-weekly columnists will be students who are not on the staff of The Crimson.

Perhaps most importantly, however, we will be devoting space, each day, to submissions from non-Crimson writers. Just two years ago, "Guest Commentaries" from students, professors, Cambridge residents and other members of the Harvard community were the exception and not the rule. Such pieces usually appeared no more than once per week. This year, Crimson editors will continue to write for the editorial page. But our views will no longer be featured at the expense of yours.

Our new commitment to publishing voices from the entire community means we welcome unsolicited opinion pieces and letters more than ever before, from all our readers.

If you are interested in writing a piece for the editorial page, please contact us at editorial@www.thecrimson.harvard.edu.
