Editors Emulate Radical Right By Denouncing Clubs

TO THE EDITORS

The Crimson's revived crusade against the final clubs is a good example of the intolerance that has made "liberal" a dirty word instead of the appellation for a politics that celebrates open-mindedness and the variety of human preference.

Emulating the worst aspects of the radical right, the editors (themselves having enrolled in a highly selective, and therefore exclusive college) insist that all must share their dreary, new-found egalitarianism.

The clubs do no harm to those who choose to ignore them. Clearly, part of the community--male and female--enjoys them. Why does the Crimson want to impose its values on everyone? --E.L. Pattullo
