Council Puts Spring Fling Tickets on Sale

Tickets went on sale yesterday for Spring Fling, the junior-sophomore semi-formal to be held March 14 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the State House.

The dance is being organized by the Undergraduate Council's Campus Life Committee with help from corporate sponsors.

"The semi-formal was created because the seniors have the Soiree and the freshmen have the Freshman Formal," said Enmi Sung '98. "The two middle classes seem to get lost."

Sung said the State House's beauty and accessibility--it's only four stops on the T--make it an ideal choice for the semi-formal.

Two student D.J.S, Diallo A. Riddle '97 and Nate D. Simmons '98, will provide the music.

Each D.J. will have his own dance floor, and a third room will serve as a common room.

Sung said she hopes the dance will help foster inter-class unity.

Tickets are $5 per person and are available at the Holyoke Center Ticket Office.

Sung said the tickets are so inexpensive because the council was able to get corporate sponsors for the dance.

Kinko's did all the paperwork for free and Snapple will provide free drinks. Other sponsors include Mail-boxes, Etc. and Keezer's.

Although 950 tickets are available for the dance, the organizers expect between 700 and 800 students to attend.

Tickets will not be sold at the door because state law forbids the exchange of money on State House premises.

The Dean of Students Office will sponsor a free post-party at Loker from midnight to 2 a.m.
