A Babson College student rammed his car into the Eliot St. side of the Kennedy School's Belfour Center last month, causing $3,500 in damages.
While driving on Eliot St. Dec. 17, Carlos Ho swerved to avoid a stopped motor vehicle and ran his 1996 Nissan Pathfinder down the Belfour Center's granite staircase.
Ho did not sustain any injuries, but the car accident damaged the building's brick front, its stairs and its railing, according to Harvard Police spokesperson Peggy A. McNamara.
The majority of the damage has been repaired, although the railing is still being renovated, according to Adrianne Kaufmann, a spokesperson for the Kennedy School.
Ho is currently working with the Harvard insurance office to determine whether he will pay for the damage, according to Kaufmann.
Cops Recover Stolen Car
In other crime news, the Cambridge Police arrested two suspected carjackers last Friday night and recovered a stolen vehicle in their possession, according to McNamara.
Harvard Detective Paul Westlund alerted the Cambridge Police of the stolen car shortly after noticing the "suspicious" vehicle parked in front of the Broadway supermarket.
The Cambridge Police pursued the suspects by car until they fled from the stolen vehicle on Howard Street.
One suspect was apprehended immediately and the second suspect was caught by the Cambridge Police following a brief foot chase.
The Harvard Police would not release the names of the two suspects. The Cambridge Police did not return calls yesterday.
The vehicle had been stolen from its owners at gunpoint on December 12.
The suspects and the car were taken into custody by the Cambridge Police.
