Two Quincy House seniors won the second-annual campus-wide foosball tournament this past weekend.
Thomas C. Lee '96 and Hsien Y. Wong '96 came out victorious in the double-elimination tournament, which was held in Quincy and Eliot Houses on Saturday.
A total of nine two-member teams participated in the tournament. Quincy residents Stacey A. Friedman '96 and Eric E. Blom '96 placed second.
Although the tournament was open to all students, only one team from outside Quincy House, a pair of Eliot House residents, competed. That duo finished fourth.
A team of former Quincy residents placed third.
The top two teams received trophies and will have their names engraved on a plaque in the lobby of Quincy House, a tradition which dates back to the late 1970s.
Until last year, the tournament was open only to residents of Quincy House, considered by some to be a "bastion of foosball mania."
"Foosball is a good way for people to interact within the house," Lee said. "People are more interested in doubles than singles."
Lee said he attributes foosball's popularity at Quincy House to the prominent location of the foosball tables.
"The tables are placed in the main lobby, so it's very visible," said Lee. "Eliot and Dunster also have tables. But theirs are kept in the basement, so not many people know they're there."
When not playing foosball, Lee also maintains his house's $850 "Tornado" foosball table, funded by Quincy Master Michael Shinagel and the house committee.
He also has served as the Quincy House foosball "czar" and organized the tournament.
Lee said Eliot House has an even more prestigious foosball table, a $1,500 coin-operated "Tornado," leased from the New England Foosball Association.
