We write to endorse Eric M. Nelson '99 and Joe A. Sena '99 for president and vice president of the Undergraduate Council. We have worked with both of them on the council and know them to be dedicated, hardworking people who can bring the council together and help it get down to business. We have watched as the council has become increasingly divisive and political and we believe that enough is enough. It's time that the council stopped acting like a debate society and started making a tangible difference in students' lives. We know that Eric and Joe will make it happen.
As the representatives who will remain seated under the leadership resulting from next week's popular elections, we feel it is important to express our desire for leadership that can bring unity and cooperation to the council. We believe that Eric Nelson and Joe Sena can best provide this leadership. Eric and Joe come from different perspectives: Eric is chair of the Student Affairs Committee and Joe is the co-chair of the Campus Life Committee. They have shown that they can work with all council members to make their ideas realities.
We urge the Harvard student body to give Eric and Joe a chance. --Michael J. Passante '99, Council Secretary; John Appelbaum '97, Council Treasurer; Tally Zingher '99, Campus Life Cmte.
