The Harvard men's golf team was just happy to be there. The Crimson just slipped into the ECAC Championships as the 21st seed in what was scheduled to be a 20-team tournament.
Since only the top three teams in the region would qualify to the advance to the Championships, a third-place tie caused the Crimson to petition for a spot on Colgate's Seven Oaks.
The golfers just wanted a chance to compete; winning the tournament was as far from their minds as common sense is from an tournament selection committee. Amazingly, the Crimson not only won the tournament but ran away with it.
The Harvard golfers put up the top scores on both days of the 36-hole tournament en route to an incredible 11-stoke victory.
"It was not just the best meet of the season, it was the best meet I've ever heard of us having," junior Jun Choo said. "It's really almost indescribable."
