Adams Checker Promoted

Diners Will Miss Her

Tonight, Jane C. Kelley will check her last I.D. at the Adams House dining hall.

Kelley, affectionately known to one and all as "Jane," will start Monday as staff assistant to the purchasing manager for Harvard Dining Services.

Students in the Adams dining hall last night unanimously expressed regret for her departure.

"We will miss her bright smile," said Adams resident Chimene I. Keitner '96.

Kelley is known for her friendly, personable service and advice, students said.

"Three words: Jane's the best," Eric M. Silberstein '98 said.

The secret to her success is getting to know students personally, according to Kelley.

"I know all of the Adams House kids by name--plus many, many other students," Kelley said. "I know all of the kids at The Crimson, [as well as] all the tutors [and] Senior Common Room members."

Before coming to Harvard Dining Services as a checker in Sept. 1991, Kelley worked as a nurse for 20 years and also as a waitress.

Kelley said last night that she would love the students to visit her at the purchasing department, located on the third floor of 67 Winthrop Street.

When Kelley leaves Adams House, she said she'll remember the people most of all: "That's what it's all about."
