Junior Sean Riley, a two-year starter at offensive lineman, was named the captain of the Harvard's 1996 football team. The announcement was made at the team's end-of-season banquet, held at the Harvard Club of Boston last night.
Riley was chosen the 123rd captain of Harvard football in a vote of his teammates yesterday afternoon.
Riley has not missed a start in the past two years--a span of 20 games--and will be one of the four returning offensive line starters for the Crimson in 1996. Riley started at left tackle in 1994 and moved to right tackle at the start of this season.
Other Awards
Senior tailback Torn Reardon was the recepient of the Lamar Award which is given to a senior member of the Harvard squad who has given a unique contribution to Harvard foot ball. Senior Justin Frantz won the Kennedy Award which is presented to the member of the team who through hardwork and determination has earned the respect of his team-mates.
Senior tight end and Adam Gotta and senior linebacker Bhan Borg also won awards.
