H. Ross Perot, the populist Texas billionaire, will likely come to campus next month for a student-organized "constitutional convention" at the Kennedy School of Government, an organizer said last night.
The convention is scheduled to begin on May 16.
During the 1992 presidential campaign, Perot parlayed colorful oneliners and a bold plan for cutting the budget deficit into a respectable finish with 19 percent of the popular vote.
While Perot was relatively popular with the electorate, he had little support from Harvard voters. A student group in support of his candidacy fell apart almost as soon as it began, and a Crimson poll conducted shortly before the November election showed He has remained a force on the nationalpolitical scene, engaging in a widely watched withdebate with Vice President Al Gore '69 last fallover the North American Free Trade Agreement.Perot opposed the trade pact, but Congress votedto approve it
