April 1968--Comencement Speaker Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated.

April 1969--Students take over University Hall to protest ROTC.

October 1969--Faculty votes to condemn Vietnam War.

November 1969--Students arrange sit-in at the office of the Dean of the College Ernest R. May. Sixteen students are ultimately expelled for their participation

1970

June 1970--First joint Harvard-Radcliffe Commencement is planned.
