We are pleased o discover that sometimes members of the Undergraduate Council listen to their constituents, and sometimes they work to improve the quality of students' lives. In other words, sometimes they do their job.

Over the past few months, Lowell House representatives Andrew J. Ehrlich '96 and Denise A. Ebery '95 have met with the director of the Science Center, Noni C. Strauss, to discuss ways to improve the sourcebook nightmare that haunts students every semester.

As everyone knows only too well, hundreds of students must wait for hours in one outrageously long line in order to acquire the precious literary commodity.

After honest effort by the U.C. members, sourcebook lines may now become only a mildlyunpleasant dream. The U.C. representatives have promised that for the first two weeks of classes the Science Center stockroom will be open extended hours (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), including Saturdays (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), with three separate lines (bring cash for the quick cash-only line). In addition, "floor-walkers," both employees and U.C. representatives, will be available to answer all your sourcebook-related trivia questions.

The apparent progress made by the U.C. on this matter is indicative of what student representatives can and should do--on a regular basis.
