Director of Coop Books Dies At Age 90 After Short Illness

The longtime director of the Harvard Cooperative Society's book operation died last Tuesday in South Yarmouth, Mass, after a short illness, according to the New York Times. He was 90.

Arnold H. Swenson became director of Coop books in 1966 and turned it into one of the largest book-stores in the country.

Swenson also helped choose books for the White House during the terms of presidents from Truman to Nixon.
